FAQ
Here we answer frequently asked questions.
How can I join TNG? expand_more
Most new colleagues start at TNG as Software Consultants directly after university, a PhD, or with some professional experience. In this role, they develop software for our clients and advise them accordingly. It is also possible to do internships or working student positions with us. In addition, entry is also possible in one of our internal departments: Recruiting, Finance, People & Events, Communications, Internationalization, and Operations.
How important is experience in software development? expand_more
We do not hire for specific projects and therefore do not require specific technologies or programming languages. It is fundamentally more important to us that our colleagues are flexibly deployable. For this reason, willingness for continuous further training is more important to us than in-depth experience in a specialist area. However, to meet the high implementation share in our projects, we wish for initial experience in software development.
What does a typical workday look like? expand_more
Except on Techdays, our Software Consultants are usually integrated into their project team at the client. A large part of the working time is spent on software development. The setting can vary greatly, so there is no typical workday. In some assignments, we are completely responsible for individual projects or features with a large team, in others we are closely integrated into the client’s existing IT department.
Where can I work for TNG in Germany and abroad? expand_more
A long-term assignment is possible at all our locations in Germany and abroad. We also enable temporary work from other, primarily European countries, but foreign assignments depend strongly on the individual case. Basically, we try to staff projects as locally as possible to keep travel to a minimum.
How is mobile work enabled at TNG? expand_more
Depending on project requirements and individual preferences, we work remotely, on-site at the client, or in TNG offices. Our Techdays also take place in a hybrid setting. To work well outside a TNG office, we provide the appropriate equipment such as monitors, headsets, and webcams.
How high is the workload? expand_more
The 40-hour week is taken seriously with us, so overtime is rare. If overtime does occur due to project demands, it can be compensated with time off or paid out.
How is it decided which project I work on at TNG? expand_more
During the application process, we get to know you and your skills. Based on your experience, we form a comprehensive picture of your knowledge. Add to this your personal wishes and preferences. We bring this together with the current demand in our projects. This results in the best possible match between your profile and our project situation.
How long am I on a client project as a Software Consultant? expand_more
Our client projects often last several years. This does not mean that our consultants stay on one project for the entire duration. A project change is usually due after about two to three years. However, this depends strongly on the client project and the preferences of the individual consultants.
Can I do strategy consulting at TNG? expand_more
Purely strategic projects or IT management assignments are very rare at TNG. What we advise our clients on is usually implemented by us accordingly. As a result, the implementation share is very high. There is no clear separation between consulting and software development.
What role does artificial intelligence play at TNG? expand_more
AI plays an important role in various areas, e.g. software development, data analysis, and process automation. We develop and implement AI solutions for clients to optimize their business processes. In addition, we have developed our own AI Productivity Platform, the TNG AI Assistant (TAIA). TAIA enables users to interact with various Large Language Models (LLMs).
How can I continue my education at TNG? expand_more
For continuous further training, every consultant attends a Techday up to twice a month, at which employees — as well as external speakers — give talks and workshops. As part of our regular, multi-day retreats, there is also the opportunity to focus on technical and strategic topics in a nice environment outside the office. We also support participation in external training, conferences, and certifications. Up to 10% of working time can be invested in further training.
